Heating Tune-up

You know your heater works, but do you know if it works safely? An old or improperly functioning heater can leak carbon monoxide into your home. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and tasteless gas that is highly toxic to humans and animals. Our heater tune-up is designed to verify safe and proper operation of your system.

Your heating system is a major investment in your home and is the most taken for granted appliance/system we have, out of sight, out of mind. The magic box on the wall (thermostat) makes heat. Approximately, half of homeowners do not have their units serviced until it breaks down (if it's not broke, don't fix it). Well, if you want a safer, longer than average system life, the most comfort and the lowest utility bill, trust Ideal Air Services to keep it in like-new condition.

You wouldn't wait until your car broke down to change the oil, right?

Protect your investment with a regular tune-up

  • Check cooling performance, temperature drop and determine if adjustments are needed.
  • Clean heat exchanger and inspect for combustion leaks... Heat exchanger will be inspected for cracks and discoloration. Heat exchangers can develop cracks with age. If they exist, there is a risk of fire or carbon monoxide hazards.
  • Test for carbon monoxide... Carbon monoxide is a dangerous, odorless gas.
  • Clean burners and adjust for maximum efficiency... Dirty burners can cause poor combustion.
  • Check pilot assembly and inspect thermocouple... A defective thermocouple will cause the furnace to shut down. Weak or dirty pilots can easily be extinguished causing the furnace to shut down.
  • Inspect flame sensor.
  • Examine flue pipe and inspect venting system.
  • Verify proper inducer motor operation... This motor exhausts the flue gases out of the vent system.
  • Verify proper ignition... Proper air/fuel mixture should result in a blue flame.
  • Inspect gas piping and valve... Gas line will be leak checked from the furnace shut off valve to the burners. Undetected gas leaks are dangerous.
  • Flush condensate drain to protect against overflow... Drains will be tested. Overflowing drains can cause problems for overall system operation.
  • Inspect blower assembly operation and lubricate if necessary... Motor will last longer.
  • Evaluate condition of air filters and other indoor air quality accessories... Dirty air filters can increase operating costs & may cause furnace to overheat.
  • Safety test all controls for proper operation... Fan switch checked and adjusted as needed. Combustion air openings checked. Blocked or restricted combustion air openings can be dangerous. Safety controls that do not operate can cause dangerous problems.
  • Check/calibrate thermostat and confirm proper operation.
  • Evaluate the overall efficiency of the system and inform customer of equipment condition.
